{Chester County Newborn Photographer}
Back in April, I attended the Andrea Kinter Photography workshop up in New York. As a photographer, I am always trying to improve, learn and grow. One of the areas that I wanted to improve on was my newborn photography. I think a lot of people think that it’s easy to photograph newborns since they sleep all of the time. Yes, while newborns do sleep quite a lot, there is so much more that goes into achieving those adorable naked and squishy newborn photos. There is technique, skill, patience, proper angles, the right equipment, safety….the list goes on. I had purchased an e-workshop about newborn photography but it wasn’t enough. I knew I needed to attend an in-person workshop. I had been following Andrea’s work for a long time. Once I saw that she was hosting a workshop that was relatively close to me, I jumped at the chance to learn from her. If you haven’t seen her work yet, go check her out now! She is AMAZING!!!
Well not only is her work amazing, her workshop was absolutely incredible!! It was 2 full days with a total of 4 different newborn models. We had two extremely long days of watching and learning from her in the studio (a quick thank you to Amanda Diefenbach Photography for hosting us at her studio for the weekend!). Plus, it was such a small group of photographers which made it feel very personal. Andrea was truly an open book. She just poured out all of her knowledge over the course of two days. She showed us her regular routine for her newborn sessions. We were allowed to take pictures of every single setup/pose that she did! She worked with us and critiqued each image that we took to make sure that we were getting the correct angle. The icing on the cake that truly sets her workshop out from other newborn workshops is that she gives you hands on experience! We were all allowed to pick a pose and completely pose the baby by ourselves. She sat right next to us and told us exactly how to move the baby to achieve the pose that we were going for. I don’t know about you but in order to truly learn something, I have to actually do it myself and Andrea let us do that!!! It was incredible!
Then after we were done with the models each day, she sat down and talked about editing and business with us. She answered every question that we had for her. When I left NY, my head was truly spinning with all of my new knowledge. I couldn’t wait to get home to apply everything at my next newborn session. Since the workshop, my work has grown so much and I owe it all to Andrea. Even now, two months after the workshop, she is always available for any questions that may come up. Plus, we were all added into a private Facebook group with all of her past workshop attendees where we can ask questions, ask for CC and continue to learn from each other.
If you’re thinking about taking a newborn workshop, definitely take Andrea’s! It was by far one of the best things that I’ve ever done for my photography business.
And what would a blog post be without some photos! First here are some behind the scenes photos…
And here are some of the photos that I was able to take at the workshop (all images were posed by Andrea and taken/edited by me)…..
And this photo was posed/taken/edited by me! 🙂
